BoaterSkills.ca instructors are available by appointment to come to your boat and teach essential operator skills. Our Boat Handling Clinics are perfect for new boater owners and for experienced boat owners (note: we do not provide the boat) who want to improve or develop new skills.

Step 2: Complete an online booking so that we have all of the necessary information to make your clinic safe, educational, and enjoyable for everyone on board!
PLEASE NOTE: Boat handling lessons are dependent on fair weather forecasts and clinic dates are subject to change after booking.

A BoaterSkills.ca instructor is ready to assist with any of the following:
- Launching at boat ramps (if applicable)
- Departing and returning to the dock
- Docking in windy conditions
- Spring Lines (bow, after-bow, stern)
- Crew instruction (lines and knots)
- Launch & retrieve (if you tow)
- Maneuvering with thrusters and joysticks
- Open water operation: planing and trim
- Man-overboard maneuvers
- Required safety equipment for your type and size of vessel
- Power management: AC/DC breaker panels familiarization
- Additional skills on request
The student operator receives a BoaterSkills.ca Training Certificate following the completion of a 3-hr clinic.

♦ Instructor mileage fee may apply. BoaterSkills.ca instructors are available to travel to locations within a 2-hour drive of Toronto to provide instruction on your boat. An instructor mileage fee of .55/km may apply with the first 50km being free. Mileage fees are calculated and explained prior to booking.
♦ BoaterSkills.ca does not provide the boat for training. We teach how to operate YOUR boat safely and confidently. We bring the training to you.
♦ All operators must have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card or other Transport Canada accepted form of competency to operate the boat.
♦ Students must wear a Canadian approved flotation device during training.
