BoaterSkills.ca continues instructing through the winter with choice offering of boater certification courses!
Take a course this winter and be ready for this season!
All courses are taught by BoaterSkills.ca Master Instructor Craig Hamilton. An accomplished sailor, seasoned racer and expert boat-handler, Craig ensures that all of his classes provide informative boating instruction in a comfortable learning environment.
Courses are designed for both new and experienced boaters – Power and Sail.
Winter and Summer Courses
Powered Vessel Operator Permit
Anyone wishing to operate a powered vessel in Toronto Harbour is required to have a Power Vessel Operator’s Permit, often referred to as a Toronto Harbour Licence. Boaters must be 14 years of age and have a PCOC card in order to complete the course.

ROC-M Radio Course
All boaters wishing to operate a VHF radio must have an ROC-M certificate (Restricted Operator’s Certificate – Maritime). BoaterSkills.ca now makes this course available online – including the exam. Students learn emergency radio procedures, Digital Selective Calling (DSC Endorsement), and every day operating techniques. Course details – please click here
Marine Basic First Aid
The Marine Basic First Aid is a two-day course offering an overview of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the marine/fishing industry. This course meets the requirements of Transport Canada outlined in Transport Publication (TP) 13008.
This course also serves the First Aid and CPR training needs of recreational boaters and crew for responding to injuries and illness within the marine environment. Course details – please click here

BoaterSkills.ca offers boat handling instruction in the summer, and boater certification courses in the winter.
